The King’s Speech

February 11, 2011

HI All!

Has anyone seen the King’s Speech? Nominated for 12 Oscars, this movie  highlights the life of King George VI and his struggle to overcome his stuttering as he is about to take the throne. Colin Firth (who plays King George VI) does a fantastic job of depicting the trials and tribulations of a person who stutters. His speech therapist, Lionel Logue, (played by Geoffry Rush) uses unique techniques along with humor to help he King overcome his stutter.  For anyone who may stutter or for clinicians that have worked with people who stutter, this movie truly portrays the special relationship between a speech therapist and a client who stutters. This movie is funny, inspirational, and entertaining. It is definitely worth seeing or at least putting on your netflix list! Also a great idea for a social event for your local NSSLHA chapter 🙂

We would love to know what you thought about the movie!!
