University of Florida’s Graduate NSSLHA Chapter Gets Recognized for their Fight Against Cancer!!

April 5, 2010

On March 26-27, UF’s GNSSLHA participated in the University of Florida’s Relay for Life event. This 18-hour long event united 65 teams, comprised of 1500 participants, to raise money and help support the battle against cancer.

With only thirty-two team members, we exceeded our goal, raising over $5,500 for the American Cancer Society! The theme for the event was “A Relay Big Party,” and decked out in our team theme of a “Bachelorette Party”, nine members of our members endured ALL 18 hours of the event.

At the concluding awards ceremony, our team received the Silver award for amount of money raised, as well as the overall award for Most Spirited team! The event was not only a success, but also a chance to have fun and bond with our fellow classmates. We’re proud to say that we were a part of this year’s Relay for Life, helping to raise a total of over $114,000.
