NSSLHA Executive Council “Hill Day”

February 22, 2010

This weekend (February 25-28th) the NSSLHA Executive Council will be meeting at the ASHA headquarters in Washington D.C.!  It will definitely be a busy weekend, full of new officer trainings, committee meetings, and Capitol Hill visits.  Each regional councilor is in the process of contacting their state legislators and setting up meetings to discuss current issues affecting students and the fields of speech-language pathology and audiology.  Now is the perfect time for YOU to get involved as well! Contact your legislators and remind them of the current issues concerning our fields.  It is as simple as sending a few e-mails or making some phone calls.  If you are going to be in the D.C. area, set up a meeting with your state legislators…you may not meet directly with them, but one of their staff members are usually available. You could also invite local representatives to a chapter meeting or get together with other health profession majors to spread awareness about important issues affect our fields. Information about current legislation that directly affects students as well as future clients can be found on the ASHA website. Visit for more information about how you can take action!
